Virginia never adopted the Common Core. It teaches from the Virginia Mathematics Standards of Learning, revised in 2023, and assesses students through SOL tests in grades 3–8 plus end-of-course tests in Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II. Virginia also runs Growth Assessments during the year in grades 3–8. MathQuizily helps Virginia teachers build printable SOL-style practice tests with a complete answer key.

Virginia standards and state testing
Virginia SOL, not Common Core
The Virginia Mathematics Standards of Learning are a state-written framework organized into strands — Number and Number Sense, Computation and Estimation, Measurement and Geometry, Probability and Statistics, and Patterns, Functions and Algebra — that run across every grade rather than appearing only at certain levels. Choose a grade and topic and the generated practice targets the strand you are teaching.
SOL-style item design
SOL math items are typically tight and computation-forward, with technology-enhanced formats such as drag-and-drop and fill-in-the-blank alongside multiple choice. Generated tests keep questions focused and include worked answers so students can check a method quickly.
Growth Assessments and end-of-course SOL
Virginia's Growth Assessments give teachers a mid-year read in grades 3–8 before the spring SOL, and high school students sit end-of-course tests in Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II. Coverage here spans all of those grades and courses.
