Definition
The hypotenuse is the longest side of a right triangle. It is always opposite the right angle (90°).
💡Example
In a right triangle with sides 3, 4, and 5, the hypotenuse is 5 (the longest side). Using the Pythagorean theorem: 3² + 4² = 5² (9 + 16 = 25).
