Factors of 30 that add to 11 are 5 and 6, so (x - 5)(x - 6) = 0.
3. (2, 5)
Set 2x + 1 = -x + 7, so 3x = 6 and x = 2. Then y = 2(2) + 1 = 5.
4. y = (x - 3)^2 + 2, vertex (3, 2)
Half of -6 is -3, and (-3)^2 = 9. So y = (x^2 - 6x + 9) + 2 = (x - 3)^2 + 2.
5. y = 3(2)^x, giving 96 grams
Initial value 3 with growth factor 2 gives y = 3(2)^x. At x = 5: 3 x 32 = 96.
