7th Grade Math Test Generator for Texas (TEKS)
Build printable 7th grade math tests that follow the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills rather than the Common Core — including the personal financial literacy strand that Texas teaches and most other states do not.
Why Texas is different
A generic 7th grade math test will not match a Texas scope and sequence. Texas never adopted the Common Core, and the grade 7 TEKS include a Personal Financial Literacy strand covering interest, taxes, budgeting and credit — content that simply does not appear in Common Core grade 7. STAAR also leans heavily on multi-step word problems and process standards, so items that look right for a Common Core classroom can still feel unfamiliar to a Texas class.
What this course covers in Texas
Proportionality
Unit rates, constant of proportionality, percent increase and decrease, and similar-shape problems. This strand carries the most weight in grade 7 STAAR practice, and it is where multi-step word problems usually appear.
Computations and algebraic relationships
Operations with rational numbers, writing and solving one- and two-step equations and inequalities, and modelling situations algebraically rather than only computing an answer.
Geometry and measurement
Circumference and area of circles, area of composite figures, volume and surface area of rectangular and triangular prisms, and using scale drawings.
Data analysis and personal financial literacy
Comparing data sets and simple probability, alongside the TEKS financial literacy expectations: simple and compound interest, income and payroll taxes, budgeting, and the real cost of borrowing. This is the strand most often missing from national worksheet packs.

1. 17.5 miles per gallon
245 / 14 = 17.5.
2. $51.60
Tax = 48 x 0.075 = 3.60. Total = 48 + 3.60 = 51.60.
3. 254.34 square inches
Radius = 9. Area = 3.14 x 9 x 9 = 254.34.
4. $60
I = P x r x t = 400 x 0.05 x 3 = 60.
5. $540.80
After year 1: 500 x 1.04 = 520. After year 2: 520 x 1.04 = 540.80.
