Why Georgia is different

Georgia's high school algebra course carries a different name from the national default for a reason: it is not simply Algebra 1 with a Georgia label. Multiply coefficients and add exponents: 3 x 4 = 12 and 2 + 5 = 7.

2. x = 2

Use x = -b / 2a = 8 / 4 = 2.

3. (4, 3)

Adding the equations gives 3x = 12, so x = 4, and then y = 3.

4. P = 800(1.06)^t, about 953 people

800 x 1.06^3 is about 800 x 1.191 = 952.8, so roughly 953.
