Why Georgia is different
Georgia's high school algebra course carries a different name from the national default for a reason: it is not simply Algebra 1 with a Georgia label. The course is written to emphasise connections between representations and to carry statistical reasoning alongside the algebra, and its standards are organised around that framing. A generic Algebra 1 resource maps onto much of the algebraic content but misses the connective and statistical emphasis that the course is named for.

Solving quadratics by multiple methods, converting between forms, and distinguishing exponential from linear growth in tables and contexts. Comparing function families directly is a recurring theme.
Statistical reasoning within algebra
Describing data, scatterplots, fitting models and evaluating how well a model represents a situation. Kept inside the algebra course rather than deferred, and often under-taught when using national materials.

Multiply coefficients and add exponents: 3 x 4 = 12 and 2 + 5 = 7.

Use x = -b / 2a = 8 / 4 = 2.

Adding the equations gives 3x = 12, so x = 4, and then y = 3.
4. P = 800(1.06)^t, about 953 people
800 x 1.06^3 is about 800 x 1.191 = 952.8, so roughly 953.
