Definition
A mathematical expression is a combination of numbers, variables, and operations (like +, −, ×, ÷) that represents a value. Unlike equations, expressions do NOT have an equals sign.
💡Example
3x + 5 is an expression. 2y − 7 + z is an expression. But 3x + 5 = 11 is an equation (because it has =). Expressions can be simplified but not "solved."
