Definition

A ratio compares two or more quantities by showing their relative sizes. It can be written as a:b, a/b, or "a to b".

If a recipe uses 2 cups flour and 1 cup sugar, the ratio of flour to sugar is 2:1. In a class of 15 boys and 10 girls, the ratio is 15:10, which simplifies to 3:2.
